With the implementation of the EXPO 2027 project, worth around 12 billion euros, Belgrade will get new infrastructure. The specialized exhibition Expo 2027 under the motto "Play for humanity, sport and music for all", should be held in the period from May 15 to August 15, 2027, at the new fair area in Surčin. According to businessmen and officials, this could bring Serbia millions of new visitors, great economic benefits and new jobs.
When asked whether all infrastructure plans are economically justified, economist Aleksandar Stevanović tells Euronews Serbia that not all planned investments are built only for the EXPO, because some of them would be built even if it were not for these specialized exhibitions.
The new look of Belgrade, according to the first estimates, will cost 12 billion euros and will be financed both from the budget and through borrowing. The European Union could also be involved in the construction of the new Belgrade infrastructure. The President of Serbia announced that he will offer Brussels joint work on organizing Expo 2027.

City Manager Miroslav Čučković said that the implementation of the EXPO 2027 project has begun in Belgrade, that the division of work is well organized and that they will manage to complete all the facilities by the end of 2026. The National Stadium and the new fair will be the initiators of all infrastructure projects. New communal and road infrastructure will be built, bridges will be raised, and facades will also be renovated. The railway will connect Belgrade with the airport, the fair and the stadium, while the city will get a new look for the railway and bus stations. And all that, as government representatives claim, can and will be done in a little longer than three years.
